A Great Source for All Things Catering

January 28, 2012

Catering is one of the most fun fields that I ever had the pleasure of working in. Sure, I was a lot younger back then and everything seemed new and exciting for me, but catering has always held a special place in my heart. Our company was a great one and we had all the catering supplies that we could ever need but sometimes, things would break down or become displaced. That is why we would keep specific sites bookmarked just in case something like that would happen and there were many companies out there that helped us out with reasonable prices and quickly delivery. It helps that us in London are so community focused, otherwise we may not have been able to receive what we needed so quickly and effectively. I am glad to live where I am these days! If you are looking for work, try out catering.

Shun Ken Onion Chef Knife: a Samurai Sword for Your Kitchen

January 21, 2012

Chef Leong: Oven Roasted Portobello Mushroom with Meatball and Tomato ...The Shun Ken Onion Chef’s knife is a knife for serious chefs only. This Kershaw Shun is forged from proprietary VG10 steel clad on either side with a sixteen layer sandwich of Damascus steel. This gives the Ken Onion blade an interesting wavy pattern which is seen in the texture of the stainless steel. Blending the two metals allows for greater strength but still accommodates an edge that is described as “dangerously sharp.”

TV chef and food scientist Alton Brown endorses the entire Kershaw Shun line and with good reason. It’s hard to appreciate the quality until you’ve held one in your hand. Shun handles are a beautiful hardwood known as Pakkawood; a resin-infused wood that is rich in grain but still capable of standing up to the rigorous abuse in the modern chef’s kitchen. The resin keeps the wood from harboring bacteria while wet and potentially ruining the handle.

If you’ve never considered a high-quality chef knife to add to your kitchen, you won’t be disappointed. The Shun Ken Onion makes a great investment that will last a lifetime.

Should You Use a Pressure Cooker?

November 16, 2011

Should you use a pressure cooker? You have a cool and comfortable kitchen owing to the fact that all the heat required to cook food is contained within the pressure cooker, unlike cooking on a stove, where the heat spreads all around. All the spices and gravies are inside the cooker which eliminates the possibility of food and curry being splashed and spattered around on the kitchen platform, thereby diminishing the need for extensive cleaning.

You can also opt for the electric pressure cooker. They do cost more money but are worth every penny owing to their multi utility. Customer reviews regarding certain brands and models can be of some help while choosing a cooker, but in the end, you need to trust your own judgment and buy a cooker that will serve all your needs. With a little research over the net, you should find the correct pressure cooker at a cheaper price.
