The Cat Litter Box Craze

January 31, 2012

I don’t get excited when it comes to cleaning something new. I’m a cat person, but I hate cleaning out cat’s litter boxes. They smell rotten. Sometimes my dog barks in disgust. If I could, I would too. There are different types of boxes. One type of Cat Litter Box I like is the one that can self clean. Think of that extra time you would get in your day! I think I could read another chapter with that kind of hours. I might just take a cat nap with Billy and Bob. Billy is my dog. Bob is my cat.

Like I said, I’m a cat person but cleaning out litter boxes is not my thing. I am glad that I don’t have to clean up cat waste in the house, but it is still nasty. I think the self clean would be on Bob’s Christmas list this year.

Why My Dogs Wear Raincoats in the Rain

January 27, 2012

I use clothes on my dogs only when it’s cold or wet outside. I have three small dogs and when it is snowy or rainy outdoors, they want to walk once a day everyday no matter what! One of my dogs has long thick fur and the cold doesn’t bother him much, my the two with short thin hair shiver when they get wet and cold. These two actually have two dog raincoats, one with no lining for warm weather and one with a lining for cold weather.

Having raincoats for your dog might sound a little silly to some people, but they are actually quite handy. It helps keep the dogs warm and dry when needed and it keeps me from having such a big mess to clean up on the dogs and in the house. It’s not so bad if you only have one pet, but when you have three, it can take some time and effort to clean things up especially if it rains for several days in a row!

What Kind of Food Do You Feed Your Cat?

January 11, 2012

The food you choose to feed your cat can have a big impact on her health. Like us humans the food they eat is the foundation for their health. You don’t necessarily need to feed organic cat food, but choosing high quality or premium cat food will make a difference in the health of your cat.

When choosing a cat food you should read the ingredients, just like when you buy your own food. The more natural and less processed the better. Granted there will be some ingredients that may sound foreign and that may be alright, as long as most of the ingredients are understandable. Look for whole food ingredient and identifiable meat sources as the prime ingredients.

Natural and organic cat food brands often have the best ingredients, because they know their customers are picky and well informed, but you can also find quality foods in other areas. Besides whole food ingredients natural and organic pet food companies also commonly add things like flax meal and probiotics to improve digestion and colon health.

Your cat does a lot for you. She provides companionship, love, entertainment and a friend who is always there to listen to you. The least you can do is buy her good food that will keep her healthy. Healthy food will also save you money in terms of fewer health problems in the future.

Newbies Need to Get the Betta Care Guide Before Getting Their Fish

December 16, 2011

You have to pay attention to the small things when you are trying to keep tropical fish in an aquarium at home. If you make a mistake with the water pH levels, or if the temperature is too hot or cold, the fish could suffer and might even die because of it. The worst feeling in the world is having your pet get sick because of something that you could have done or could have prevented, and that is why I am always advocating that newbies that they get the latest betta care guide that they can get their hands on – before they even try keeping one at home. This is a really big deal, and unfortunately, you can read many of the horror stories that regular folks have about their bettas getting sick or even worse dying, and them not having the faintest clue as to why that happened.

Dog Crates Made from Aluminum Have Lots of Advantages

December 7, 2011

According to many dog owners dog crates made from aluminum are superior to the dog crates made from plastic. The crates made from aluminum are light weight and can be transported with ease. Compare that to clunky and heavy plastic dog crates. Aluminum is much stronger than plastic and most aluminum dog crates are collapsible which makes storing them a breeze. There is one disadvantage to aluminum dog crates. The aluminum gets very cold and if you decide to fly with your dog be sure to give him or her extra blankets so they can stay warm. The airlines don’t do a great job of keeping the pet cargo hold very warm. Make sure your pet is safe and warm with extra padding and warm cuddly toys.

Aluminum dog crates come in all sizes. Make sure when you crate your dog he or she has enough room to stand, sit, lie down and relieve themselves. The comfort of your pet should be your first concern when purchasing dog crates.
